Causes of Subluxation

 Most Common Causes of Subluxation:

 1.    Any difficulty with childbirth or delivery
  2.   Motor vehicle accidents (recent or in the past)
  3.   Slips and falls (Even those dating back to childhood)
  4.   Poor posture
  5.   Poor diet
  6.   Repetitive activities (strain and sprain injuries)
  7.   Physical and emotional stress
  8.   Drugs and medications (unnecessary or excessive use of)
  9.   Working in awkward places and positions
10.   Prolonged car or Airplane rides

Subluxation is a term used in the chiropractic field to describe what happens when one of the vertebrae in your spine moves out of position. The word subluxationis derived from the Latin words meaning somewhat or slightly (sub) and to dislocate (luxate).

When this happens, the misaligned vertebra creates pressure and stress on the spinal nerves, blood vessels, and surrounding muscles. This pressure and stress can cause an imbalance in the body’s normal processes as the nerves in the spinal column extend to the entire body and its organs. As time goes on and the uncorrected subluxation settles, the damage to the nerve gets progressively worse and literally chokes off the brain’s ability to communicate with the organs, tissues, and cells of the body, causing DIS-EASE through the effected regions. Subluxation left uncorrected will turn into degenerative disc disease and arthritis of the spinal segments.

Subluxations can occur in a number of ways; A car accident, fall, sudden jar, or trauma are all examples of unique instances that may cause a subluxation. The other occurrence of subluxation comes from regular actions such as improper sleeping position, poor posture, obesity, lack of exercise, toxic tissues or incorrect lifting processes.

Another cause of joint dysfunction is due to the chemical effects on the joint function and the body as a whole. Smoking, heavy drinking, and poor diet, toxins, medications, too much sugar, lack of water, lack of Vitamin D; all of these can create chemical imbalances in the body. By restoring spinal function with Chiropractic adjustments, nerve interference by misaligned vertebrae is removed, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improved health.

Chiropractors are specialists in correcting subluxation and other misalignments. A chiropractor can restore the misaligned vertebrae to their proper position in the spinal column. They do this manually by using the chiropractic procedure known as spinal adjustment. The manual force or thrust helps restore the alignment and mobility of the vertebrae.
